How to Eat Cheap and Get Full
So you have decided to save money on your food while hoping to be just as full and be somewhat healthy. There are many good recipes out there but included are recipes for spaghetti, tacos, chicken Alfredo, and chicken and potatoes. Included in these recipes are items from Kroger but if you shop at another grocery then alternatives can easily be found.
Spaghetti
- Ingredients - 1 lb ground turkey (ground beef also works), 1 can petite diced tomatoes, 1 huge sweet onion, 1 medium of your favorite pepper, 1 jalapeno sliced. 2 value cans of garlic and herb sauce, your favorite noodles (I use the cheapest healthiest ones I can
find), whatever seasoning your can find (I use garlic salt, Italian seasoning, and parsley). - Cooking - brown the meat and drain, onion, and peppers (I dice my onion and peppers). Combine with diced tomatoes drained, sliced jalapeno, value sauce, and seasoning (I recommend using a ton of garlic salt) in cooking pot on burner. Warm until the sauce is hot. Take off and let sit until it is cool. Put in refrigerator for one day (This allows the ingredients to flavor your sauce completely. Make noodles and eat.
Tacos
- Ingredients - 1 lb ground turkey (ground beef also works), 1 bag Kroger Mexican rice, 1 can of sweet corn, 1 can of black beans, 1 package of Kroger taco seasoning, 1 jar of of Kroger mild taco sauce, your favorite cheese, your favorite taco shells (I do the wheat soft shells). Another addition is your favorite pepper or Kroger's onion and 3 pepper frozen bag.
- Cooking - Brown the meat (drain) and peppers if you wanted them. Follow the directions for the rice and warm the corn and black beans on the stove. After the meat has been browned stir in the taco seasoning by following the directions on the package. When that is completed and everything else has been warmed and the rice is done combine on your taco shell. Sprinkle with cheese and taco sauce and enjoy.
Chicken Alfredo
- Ingredients - 2 large chicken breasts quartered, Alfredo package from Kroger, your favorite noodles, and milk.
- Cooking - Cook the chicken on a pan until it is completely white and done. Combine in a skillet with Alfredo package from Kroger (follow it's directions) and add ¼ cup of extra milk and ½ cup of extra water. Also add ½ cup of your favorite noodles. Stir and cook until your favorite noodles are completely done (they will take the longest). Then enjoy.
Chicken, Onion, and Potatoes
- Ingredients - 6 chicken drumsticks, 2 medium potatoes or 3 huge potatoes (diced), 2 big onions (sliced), your favorite seasonings, and margarine.
- Cooking - Combine all the ingredients into a deep dish pan that goes into the oven. Sprinkle with your favorite seasonings. (I recommend using Italian seasoning, Garlic salt, parsley flakes, some sort of all purpose seasoning, and lots of salt.)
