6 Ways to Increase Your Productivity with Your Smartphone
There are many ways to increase the efficiency and productivity of your smartphone. This article discusses some apps which can be helpful along with using items already in your smartphone to accomplish this task.Use Automation software
I personally use AutomateIt to automate my Android phone. Automation software allows your smartphone to complete tasks based on programmed rules created by the user. Some examples of what I use AutomateIt for include opening Pandora and silencing my phone during the night. The reason it allows you to use your smartphone more efficiently is your phone completes actions that you would normally have to do yourself.
Use Speech to Text
The main time I use speech to text is in my car when I am driving. What I mean by speech to text is talking into your smartphone and your phone turning that information into text you can then use. I personally use Google's built in speech to text but there are many good programs out there. The reason it allows you to use your smartphone more efficiently is you can talk much faster than you can text and this is especially true when you are driving.
Use quick directions and quick call
What I mean by quick directions is a shortcut on your home screen for navigation to a specific place. What I mean by quick call is a shortcut on your home screen to call a specific person. Quick directions allow you to use your smartphone more efficiently because instead of opening up navigation and then typing in the address or searching it automatically does those two steps with a click of a button. Also I put all of my direction shortcuts in a folder. In the folder I only use places I travel to frequently and come to from all different places. Quick calls allow you to increase your efficieny because instead of going through your contacts, then selecting one, and finally calling the person you can just hit the person on your home screen and call them. Again I have all of these people on my home screen in a folder.
Become familiar with Google contacts
Google contacts I believe is one of the most underutilized tools on a smartphone. I use my Google contacts to store phone numbers of course but also email addresses and navigation to their houses. Another huge plus is all this information is automatically backed up. As I previously stated I have quick directions. Outside of those places I store people's houses and such in their contact list and if I ever need to navigate to them I can by selecting their Google contact and then their address.
Use a money management software
I personally use Mint as my money management software. It has a variety of unique features to use but here are some that make your smartphone really efficient is the ability to track the money in your account, look and manage your budgets, and add transactions as soon as they occur.
Use a task organizer/note-taker
I use GTasks as my task organizer and one of its great features is it's ability to sync with Google Tasks. Like in the case with many apps on Android they are several great alternatives to GTasks. Gtasks keeps up with all of the things you need to remember to do during the day. It is easy to add and then check off items. It increases the efficiency of your smartphone because it allows your smartphone to keep you on task throughout the day.
